A conveyor system has sorted the wheat from the chaff!
A chaff producer was using the more manual way of a shovel but was experiencing plenty of waste, so was on the hunt for a better way.
Tim did a site inspection to work out how a conveyor could be set up in a tight confined area and worked out some calculations for the angle of the elevator.
We then produced a 2D drawing to check the elevation angle.
This was close enough to 30degrees and within the capability of our C-Channel design. This standard design was then converted into a 3D model for the client to approve this design process worked well for the customer as he then could visualize what he was getting before he confirmed the project.
Chaff is a difficult product to move at a steep angle without it falling off the conveyor or bridging, so extra thought and improvements were included in the design.
“We recommended a rough-top conveyor belting to grip the product better up the steep elevation and combined with the conveyor running at a faster rate enabled the chaff to be released from the belt when transferring from one conveyor to the next.
“It’s achieved what we set out to do and we’re now looking at additional conveyors to further optimize production.”
