Innovation is at the forefront of EQM and we get really excited when a client comes to us with a problem that is making them scratch their head.We recently were asked about a mixer/stirrer process that required two paddles to operate in the same tank at the same time but rotate independently and in different directions. We took a look at how they were currently operating the system and came back with a new concept that has been very successful.
We supplied them with two STM Helical Bevel hollow shaft gearboxes and motors, one large and one slightly smaller. The smaller gearbox and motor was mounted directly on the top of the larger one so that the hollow output shafts lined up. We then we put a shaft down through the centre of the larger hollow shaft gearbox inside a tube. This allows the stirrer drive shaft to be supported by the other.
The new process enables the operator to move the paddles in the opposite direction to each other, as well as in the same direction, or one at a time.
All was achieved using STM high-tech series gearboxes with standard accessories such as output flanges to create the mixing recipe desired.
