08 Nov No need to Check and check again
The days of inaccurate packing are over with the advent of continuous check weighing technology that helps meet strict retailer and consumer expectations.
We are seeing an increased interest in check weighing technology due to underweight products being rejected by food retailers or being publicly shamed by consumers.
Many of us have had experiences of food products not meeting our expectations about quantity or weight and due to the increased awareness many food producers are now installing automated check weighers.
The benefit of a check weigher is that it doesn’t interrupt the production and packing cycle. It quickly weights a product and it it’s too light or heavy it is the moved aside while the next product comes onto the system.
New touch screen technology has also been added as well as data logging which provides proof of weight, should questions be asked by retailers or consumers.
The accuracy levels are high with a small punnet being weighed to an accuracy of 2 gram threshold and a cardboard box at about 20 grams.
Speed is also impressive with larger units being checked at a rate of 40-80 units per minute and smaller ones at up to 150 a minute.
Anthony says it’s important that you don’t look for a quick solution to selecting a check weigher and that the best way is to discuss your needs with EQM first.
“We take you through a range of questions so that we best understand what is needed and therefore we can supply you with the correct equipment that best suits your demands and the demands of your consumers”.
